i don't knw why i still have the mood to be at the National Stadium ytd to watch Singapore vs Malaysia after the implementation of that new rule. But anyways, i went there with my cuz and my uncle, probably persuaded by the fact that the match offers a gd getaway from all that hw.
So, the stadium was packed. Even more people attended that match than the Singapore vs China match last yr. We weren't exactly late, but the sea of red forced us to watch the match end-to-end. The opening exchanges weren't that interesting and i almost fell asleep. But luckily, it picked up. Kallang Waves and Kallang Roars were quite frequent. First time seeing the stadium completely filled with football fans.
Singapore had 4 chances from free-kicks - all almost at the same spot, from the left side of Malaysia's defence - to grab an early goal. But none came until the second half. My cuz and me missed that Malaysian goal cos we were stuck downstairs buying drinks. Kinda sad huh? But we were in time to see the equaliser. It came so fast. And then extra time.
We got more than we bargained for when the winner was decided by penalties. Luckily the ref chose the goalpost nearer to us for the shoot-out. 5-4, down to Malaysia's last kicker. Everyone was like shouting "save, save, save!". Lewis must have heard it. He guessed the direction correctly and saved the shot, and the whole stadium erupted. People were flinging cups into the air and dancing. The atmosphere was simply unbelievable. Everyone was singing on the way out of the stadium....
....and it rained all of a sudden
tears of joy
Singapore won
